The Disappearing Duchess! is a Bart Simpson story in the series The Maggie & Moe Mysteries! first printed in Bart Simpson #31.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Moe takes Maggie to Wall E. Weasel's, where the Duchess of Dorinia is kidnapped and the two begin to solve the case."
Plot[edit]
Moe takes Maggie to Wall E. Weasel's so she can play in the playground there. However, they find that the playground has been reserved by the Duchess of Dorinia so they just eat pizza instead. Moe gets upset that he disappointed Maggie once again, remembering the time he tried to take her paintballing. As Moe cries, the lights go out and when they come on again, the Duchess has disappeared. Moe and Maggie get ready to work the case, but Titania and Gerald also show up to solve it. As the two pairs work to gather clues, Gerald finds some fur. Moe deduces that it belongs to Wall E. Weasel and confronts him, but Titania thinks that Gerald had found the Duchess in the ball pit. Titania then remembers the time that Gerald helped her find Juggernauts by pointing out that it was behind her.
The kid that Gerald found in the ball pit turns out to be Janey, not the Duchess. Moe then sees a second Wall E. Weasel coming out with a barrel and trips him, revealing that it was Lindsey Naegle in a costume and the Duchess was in the barrel. Lindsey Naegle reveals that she was trying to recruit the Duchess as she's a casting director and she's pure evil so has "bad-itude". Lindsey Naegle is then arrested by the police and Moe promises to take Maggie to a better restaurant next time.
In a photo studio, Gerald is doing poses whilst Titania watches. She then speaks to Lindsey who tells her that she broke out of jail and her former cell-mates will be perfect for a new line of cosmetics for the incarcerated.
