The Incredibly Stimulating Life of Sideshow Mel Part Three: On the Lam is a Simpsons Comics story. In America it was first released in Krusty Comics #3. The story was also included in the collection Simpsons Comics Royale.
Plot
Sideshow Mel is doing a load of washing at Lon's Laundry. When the washing machine finishes with Mel's clothes, he loads them into the dryer, then sits and watches his clothes tumble inside it. After his clothes finish in the dryer, Mel unloads them and starts folding them. As he folds, he glances around and notices with some trepidation that the dog who confronted him when he went into the laundromat[1] is outside the front door and giving him a mean look. Mel finishes his folding, then picks up his duffel bag and goes out the back door to avoid the dog.
Behind the Laughter
- The Incredibly Stimulating Life of Sideshow Mel is a three-part story. It begins in Part One: On the Town and continues in Part Two: On the Spot.
- In the story's original printing (in Krusty Comics #3), the subtitle is spelled "On the Lamb". For the story's appearance in Simpsons Comics Royale, the subtitle was corrected to "On the Lam". "Lamb" and "Lam" are homophones, but "Lam" is the correct spelling for the context. To be "on the lam" means to be fleeing from something, and in the story Mel is fleeing from the dog.
