Daryl Gates (born Darrel Francis Gates; August 30, 1926 – April 16, 2010) was an American police officer, best known for being the chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), serving from 1978-1992. He appeared in the special episode Springfield's Most Wanted.
