Plagiarism
Hi, may I direct you to Wikisimpsons:Plagiarism, an official policy page. Please read this before making any more 'edits' if copy and paste from Wikipedia is counted as editing. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 21:29, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry. It's just on other wikis I edit on it isn't as frown upon as it must be here. I'll keep in mind your policy. Thanks! Effluvium 21:32, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
- Other wikis... Are they small wikis at all as generally, larger wikis do not like it and will often sanction users who do so. Anyway, please bare this warning in mind. Thanks for understanding. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 21:37, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
Removing Talk Page Comments
Hi, in accordance with Wikisimpsons:Talk page, you should not remove talk page comments, even those on your own talk page. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 18:04, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't mean to cause any trouble. Effluvium 18:05, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
- That's OK. It is just in case you need to look up and old comment or something or have it 'as evidence' in case a user does something on your talk page that can be used against them, say vandalism. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 18:07, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks! Effluvium 18:12, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
American History X-cellent Promo Image
Hi, I was just wondering whether you are sure that this is the promo image for that episode. It is the only Promo image I could find and am not sure if it is the right one for the episode. If you have a rock solid source then that would be helpful. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 15:04, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Hey! To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if its the promo image either. [1] <--here is the website I found it on. Hope this helps! Effluvium 15:11, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
Template:Season
OK, should work now. Just a couple of mistakes and I have improved it. I have added in removable parameters so if left blank, they won't show up. Your mistakes were:
- It is case sensitive. Some parameters in the coding were different to those in the use.
- You didn't include the <noinclude></noinclude> bit for the Use section. This would display the Use section on each page you put the infobox on.
Other than that, it was a good first try, unless it wasn't your first try then not so good. :) ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk)☆ 20:38, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks so much for fixing that for me! And yes, it was a first try :P Effluvium 20:39, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

- Sorry, but I'm not into Pokemon and wouldn't know what to do at your wiki. Good luck with it anyway! Thanks! Effluvium 15:38, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Signature
Hi, in future, please don't add the subst: bit at the beginning of your signature. This gives a massive amount of code on the page. It is especially a lot as yours is in a sort of table. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 09:59, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Solar Dragon! I just tried to get rid of the SUBST at the beginning of the signature in my prefernences but it just added itself back in after I saved. How can I get around this? Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 10:05, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just noticed that it did the same for me. I am going to contact Wikia about this I think. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:07, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. After Wikia sort it out - I'll be happy to sort it out. Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 10:09, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Just sent a message now. This is the first time I have seen this happen. It has worked all other times I have seen it used. The reason of the template thing is mainly to save space in talk pages so it is kind of stupid. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:10, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- This is the first time I've created a custom signature, so this is all new to me! But let me know when it gets sorted out and I'll be happy to get rid of the SBST bit. Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 10:15, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Umm, you mean subst: :) Custom signatures are a lot better than the default ones. I feel that all admins and great users should have a custom signature. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:20, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Haha, yeah, SUBST! Sorry, about that. And yes, I agree with you about the cutom signature thing. I felt I should make one, as I don't think I'll be going anywhere in a while. I love the show and the wiki too much! And good job on the yellow buttons by the way. The wiki looks great! Effluvium talk contributions email 10:28, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. It isn't hard to generate the button code. There is a generator on the Help Wikia. Just type in the HTNL colour code and out comes the code. Copy and paste into Common.js and done. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:38, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Wow. Sounds quite easy actually. You've done such a good job on here! I visited the wiki a few years back (when I wasn't registered) and its come such a long way. Its one of the best Simpsons sites around, if not THE BEST, and I love contributing. Oh by the way, thanks for sorting out that Season 9 tab template for me. That's been bugging me for a while. Effluvium talk contributions email 10:47, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- There is only one Simpsons wiki better than us and that is Spanish. We are the best English wiki. All others have shut down. And, the new skin only came around this year after I asked for it. Then JaffaCakeLover got an improved logo and background image, removing the bird and The Simpsons from it and making the logo look better, in HD quality you could say. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:52, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- I'll have to check out the Spanish wiki and have a look. However, the logo for our wiki is amazing! I love it! So why did the other language wikis shut down then? Something to do with no editors? Effluvium talk contributions email 10:57, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, how many colons is that now? :) Also, I said it is non Wikia English wikis that shut down. Mostly because they have to fund their own wikis and don't want to any more. Many Wikia wikis are inactive, some of our foreign ones are. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:01, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Haha, I was thinking the same thing! Oh, right, non-Wikia wikis. Similar to The Infosphere then...Well, anyway, I'm concentrating on getting most of the tabs complete on pretty much all the episodes. The red-link tabs have been annoying me for a bit - so I'm using my half-term holiday to try and get through most of them. Wish me luck :P Also, didn't JaffaCakeLover import the tab system? Effluvium talk contributions email 11:06, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
Decided to start a new row of comments as it is getting stupidly long now. It was Kingcjc who made it by the looks of it, looking at the history. A bit sad there are only two active admins now as so many of them have now gone. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:13, May 30, 2010 (UTC) Anyway, come on IRC to talk easier. Link is here. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:14, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I'll be on now! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 11:16, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Featured Cleanup
Hi, when you complete a task from the list, please could you add another to keep it at 5 per section. The list of wanted articles is at Special:WantedPages, available through Special Pages. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 14:15, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, yeah OK. Sorry about that! Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 14:17, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Signature
Got it. See User:Solar Dragon/Signature 2. I put {{subst:User:Solar Dragon/Signature}} in that and in Preferences, I put {{User:Solar Dragon/Signature 2}}. This should work. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 15:21, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Any news from Wikia about the SUBST bit on the signature - or is that what your talking about? I'm confused now! :P Effluvium talk contributions email 15:26, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, done it for you though. Put This: {{User:Effluvium/sig 2}} in the signature box in preferences now and it should work. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 15:28, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks for that, Solar Dragon! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 15:30, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- It worked. :) The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 15:31, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- Haha, yeah! Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 15:33, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Credits
In the future, when you make a credits page, could you please add {{Incomplete}} inside the credits tab above the credits if you don't write all the credits for the episode. Thank you, Dohayecarumbadoh 19:54, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 20:05, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

- OK. Sorted that out now! Thanks! Effluvium talk contributions email 09:25, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
Grammar Nitpick -- "Which"
Please stop using the following construction in episode summaries: [episode title] is the [ordinal number - 1st, 2nd, etc.] episode of Season [number], which originally aired on [date]. That construction makes it sound like the whole season aired on the particular date. Better is to leave it (or write it) as two sentences: have the first sentence end with the season number, and then begin a new sentence saying what the airdate was. For example, consider the episode Bart Gets an "F":
- Original summary (with "which" error): "Bart Gets an "F"" is the first episode of Season 2, which aired on October 11, 1990.
- Corrected: "Bart Gets an "F"" is the first episode of Season 2. It originally aired on October 11, 1990.
There are a few options for the second sentence: "It first aired on," "It originally aired on," "Its original airdate was," and so on. I personally would avoid using "it first aired" with the first episode of a season to avoid two close occurrences of the word "first," but other than that, go with whatever tickles your fancy.
I'm leaving you this message because I know you've done a least a few -- but definitely not all -- of the "which" goofs. Also, as one of the busiest people on the wiki at this time, you're in a pretty good position to fix them as you find them. That particular grammar goof has been on the site longer than either of us has, and I'm trying to fix it wherever I find it.
If you have any questions about the "which" thing, just reply here. Any other grammar questions, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. Rock on!! -- Mythigator 13:21, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, sure. I'll try and sort that out for you! Thanks for that! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 13:24, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- You're welcome and thanks to you as well. Also, because I want to be sure and leave you a compliment: I love the quotes you've been putting in the episode introductions, especially the "unexplained bacon" on THOH 12. I made that episode a personal project of mine (as you might have noticed), and I thought the bacon quote was an excellent touch. Once again, you rock! -- Mythigator 13:31, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I noticed that you were editing that page quite often - it looks great now!. And I voted for it to be a featured article! Thanks for your compliments! Effluvium talk contributions email 13:34, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- (Moving Over) It looks like you're doing fine with the "which" issue. I personally wouldn't worry about trying to fix all of them at one go, but if you're so inclined, have at it! -- Mythigator 13:44, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Actually, I'm trying my best to do most of them - I have nothing better to do today! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 13:46, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
Another Grammar Note
The episode intros don't need to be all mashed into one paragraph; in fact, it's better if they're not. Two or three short paragraphs are easier to read than one long one, especially if there's a change of topic. -- Mythigator 18:44, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
(Mythi again) Oh, and I like the new pic of Judge Harm. :-) -- Mythigator 18:46, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, yeah - I like that picture too! About the intros - the only reason why I was mashing it into paragraphs was because they were lacking information and looked silly with just one sentance per line. If I can find some more information to add, then I will be happy to do paragraphs. P.S - I used to do paragraphs, but since the information was lacking on more than several episode pages, I decided to try the all-in-one. Thanks! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 18:53, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- It's a judgement call, and I can't say as I disagree with you in the cases of episodes where the info is scanty. It just depends on what kind of training you've had. I've had training in newspaper-style writing (among other things), and in the newspaper realm one-sentence grafs are the norm (in USA newspaper writing, anyway). Consequently, for me, paragraphs start looking long when they get to four sentences, and short ones don't bother me hardly at all. Anyway, it should not be that hard for episodes to end up with two sentences at the very beginning (airdate, writers, director, notable guests, etc.) and two more for a plot summary, thus ending up with two grafs of two sentences each. No big deal, though. -- Mythigator 20:50, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I've re-edited the episode pages (keeping in mind your nitpick about the word "which") and they look great! I've found and added extra information, yet keeping the pages original. Thanks for contacting me about the grammer. And feel free to contact me again in the future - I'm always happy to chat to a fan about the show or the wiki! :) Effluvium talk contributions email 21:09, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I am still in full time education where we are told that one sentence paragraphs are stupid. That a paragraph is usually about three to six lines long. That is what I have been brought up on learning. Also, i find it funny how you spelt grammar wrong when talking about bad grammar Effluvium. :) The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 21:17, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Oooops! Haha! Sorry about that :) Well, I've always been brought up with the rule that paragraphs being around 4+ lines. As Mythigator said - "It's a judgment call". Effluvium talk contributions email 21:23, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- And, in nitpicking about your spelling of grammar, I also did a grammar fail (that is what it should be called, great name). I used a lowercase i instead of an uppercase I. :( The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 21:25, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Haha! :) Thats a fab name - Grammar Fail! Effluvium talk contributions email 21:31, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Solar said: "I am still in full time education where we are told that one sentence paragraphs are stupid." I can relate. That was the first thing I had to unlearn in college journalism. -- Mythigator 23:36, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
