The Springfield Police K-9 Unit is a specialized division of the Springfield Police Department.
History
After Marge is sentenced to 30 days in Springfield Women's Prison, the Springfield Park Commission, without Marge's popular marshmallow squares, fails to raise enough funds for a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Instead, they purchase a statue of Jimmy Carter, which disgusts the townspeople and incites a riot. During the chaos, Chief Wiggum orders the release of the K-9 Unit, but the dogs turn on him instead.[1]
After Milhouse disappeared, Chief Wiggum attempted to locate him by using three dogs. Waving a pair of Milhouse's pants in front of the animals, Wiggum released them and assured the worried crowd that the dogs never failed. When Kirk Van Houten asked whether the dogs would simply find his son or kill him, Wiggum avoided giving a direct answer, awkwardly trailing off and leaving the question unanswered.[2]
