The Virtual Reality machine is a device created for a science fair at Springfield Elementary School. It has six simulations which must be completed in order to "win": The user transforming into a dinosaur, a baby, and a pig, a school photo day, a water slide, and a dystopian version of Springfield.
History
During the fair, Bart decided to try out the machine but became trapped inside. He completed the six simulations and emerged victorious. Soon afterwards, Homer decided to try it out.
Trivia
- If the player loses the game, Bart is shown being released from the machine with Nelson laughing at him.
- According to the game's manual, the machine was invented by Martin, and was designed to be educational, until Bart's interference made it dangerous. However, many plot points mentioned in the manual are contradicted in-game so it is unclear if this is actually the case. If it is assumed to be true then the simulations' original purposes were:
- Dinosaur stage: shows what the everyday life would have been for a dinosaur.
- Baby stage: shows life through the eyes of an infant.
- Pig stage: shows how meat is processed.
- Class photo stage: recreates the Fourth Grade class as a virtual learning environment.
- Water slide stage: explores fluid dynamics.
- Dystopian stage: a virtual tour of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
