Wiki discussion is the place where major discussions and decisions can be made. Larger discussions will have their own pages but smaller discussions will go here.
Linking policy
There are tons of episode/Quotes pages (see Category:Quotes) where linking differs from other pages:
- character names in front of lines are all links instead of first occurence
- no other links occur in the text
Is this normal? --2F13 (talk) 06:26, October 6, 2018 (EDT)
- It should be first instance of a link gets linked, rather than every instance. If every instance has a link, they should be removed. The Solar Dragon 07:41, October 6, 2018 (EDT)
- If it helps ... When I work on Quotes pages, I generally link a character's name in its first occurrence in a block of dialogue. A good example is Lisa the Vegetarian/Quotes. This can result in every character name, or almost character every name, being linked if the quotes page consists largely of one-liners. For that reason, plus the fact that having too many links tends to make a Quotes page look cluttered (IMO), when I build a Quotes page I try to avoid one-liners and instead have at least three or four lines in each block of dialogue. This can result in the block division being a bit arbitrary, as I may end up having to split the blocks wherever it "feels" right instead of going by hard-and-fast rules. An example of a Quotes page where I had to take that approach is The Man of the House/Quotes. That's probably more than you wanted to know about the art of building Quotes pages, but I hope it's helpful. -- Mythigator (talk) 11:05, October 6, 2018 (EDT)
