Château d'If, also referred to as the Chateau d'If Prison, is a prison in France. It appeared in a story told by Marge.

History[edit]

In a retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo, Homer was imprisoned at the Château d'If after Meaux framed him for treason. While imprisoned, Homer's cellmate, Charles Montgomery Burns, showed him a secret tunnel he made out of the prison, and gave him a map to treasure so he could get his revenge on Meaux.

The Man in the Iron Mask was also held at Château d'If.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The island is most famous for appearing in Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo, which was retold in this episode.
