Maggie's Crib is a Bart Simpson story that appears in Bart Simpson #52. It has since been reprinted in Bart Simpson: Big Shot!.
Synopsis
When Homer refuses to stop at the State Fair, Maggie goes to extreme measures to make him pull over.
Plot
The Simpson family are driving in the countryside, and the kids are riding in the back seat. Lisa seems to be interested in the scenery, but Bart is bored. He quickly perks up, however, when he sees a sign that reads "State Fair - Next Exit". He then talks eagerly about the things they could do if they stopped at the fair, such as going on the rides and eating cotton candy. Marge seems interested, but Homer flatly refuses to stop and insists that they keep driving. Marge is surprised at Homer's forceful denial, and Bart gives him a dirty look behind his back. Bart's anger quickly turns to sadness as a tear rolls down his cheek.
Maggie sees that Bart is sad and feels sorry for him. An idea quickly occurs to her, and after a moment's concentration she intentionally soils her diaper. The resulting stench quickly fills the car, making all the other family members gasp for breath. Marge turns around and gives Maggie a concerned look, but Maggie just shrugs and smiles. Marge then pleads with Homer to stop, pointing back toward the fair, which they have already passed.
Finally persuaded, Homer turns the car around and drives to the fair. He drives straight onto the carnival grounds, causing people to flee in terror to get out of his way. After he stops, Bart and Lisa run off to go on some rides while Marge takes Maggie to the ladies' room for a diaper change. The women in the restroom are shocked by the smell of the dirty diaper, just as the family were. Marge cleans Maggie up and puts a fresh diaper on her. Later, after the family have returned to the car and resumed their drive, Bart and Lisa give Maggie kisses to thank her for the fun time they got to have.
