The Itchy & Scratchy Show Episode Information
Pun: None

Facehuggin' Frolics is an episode of The Itchy & Scratchy Show. Bart and Maggie watch it during the story In Springfield No One Can Hear You Scream.

Plot

Itchy is an Alien from the Alien movies. Scratchy pursues him with a flamethrower, unleashing a couple of bursts, narrowly missing Itchy and trapping him in a corner. Scratchy advances on Itchy and Itchy kneels, apparently pleading for his life. However, Itchy pops a pimple-like growth on his face, squirting a stream of acidic blood at Scratchy and hitting him in the face. Scratchy screams in pain and blindly stumbles away, walking near a couple of eggs. A facehugger which resembles Itchy jumps out of one of the eggs, wrapping itself around Scratchy's head. After a brief but intense struggle, Scratchy pries the facehugger off of his face and sighs in relief. His relief is short-lived, however, as a chestburster (which also resembles Itchy) immediately bursts out of Scratchy's ribcage. Scratchy then screams as three other Itchy-chestbursters emerge from his body.

Reactions

Bart found the cartoon to be very funny, but Maggie was so scared that she was hiding behind the couch. At the end of the cartoon, Marge walked into the living room, lectured Bart for frightening Maggie, and told him the cartoon was too violent for someone his age. She then warned him that he would scare himself from watching all the monsters, blood and gore. Bart pooh-poohed her warning, but later had a nightmare where he was pursued by aliens.

Behind the Laughter

  • The cartoon's title is a reference to the facehugger parasite, one of the phases of the Alien life cycle (egg, facehugger, chestburster, adult).
