The 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics were an Olympics held in Mexico City, Mexico with opening ceremony held on October 12, 1968 and the closing ceremony on October 27, 1968.

History

The Simpson family watches a program titled Great Moments in Olympic History. The show says that in the 1968 Olympics Bob Beamon broke the long jump world record, "infuriating an aged Hitler."[1]

The Black Power salute on the podium for medalists in the men's 200-meter race was included during the montage of iconic imagery from the late 1968s as "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix was played.[2]
