History
When the Simpson family escaped from the EPA, they hid at the motel. While there, Homer came up with a plan to move to Alaska and leave their old life behind.[1]
The Springfield Neutrinos kids' lacrosse team also stayed at the motel while playing on the road.[2]
Behind the Laughter
The motel's name is a pun on the Red Lion Hotel Corporation, whose individual hotels are sometimes called Red Lion Inns.
The motel's name is more likely to be a pun on the Red Roof Inn hotels, named because of their red roofs, which Red Rash Inns also possess.
