The movie is a parody of the film The Wild Thornberrys Movie. It's also a jab to a very tumultuous time in American animation and the industry that is woefully underdocumented and mentioned, but does exist: Where big time animation giants Disney and Nickelodeon were milking in house cartoon shows to make onto the cinema big screen for an extra helping of profit, and essentially killed off any major movie interest in 2D animation for a good decade.
