References/Trivia

Cultural references

  • The Last Man on Earth: Punned in the title and parodied for most of the story while Krusty is wandering around Springfield, reminiscing while pondering the implications of being by himself.

Continuity

  • In "Large Marge", Krusty says he got where he is by naming names in the 1950s, a reference to the "Red Scare" era of U.S. history. In the TV program Krusty Days, set in the '50s, Krusty's character is at a Congressional hearing agreeing to name names, that is, to turn in his friends as Communist conspirators.
