Tales from the Springfield Games is a The Simpsons Go for the Gold story.

Synopsis

Mr. Burns creates his own sporting event, the Montgomery Burns Games, but because no top athletes from around the world want to participate, it is only between athletes from Shelbyville and Springfield.

It is winter in Springfield, Mr. Burns sits in his limo when Bart drive past him on a snowboard. This gives Mr. Burns an idea he wants to create an athletic competition with people from around the world. Smithers tells Mr. Burns that there is already such a competition called the Olympics, but Mr. Burns does not care about it, he has decided to organize a sports competition. A few weeks later it is time for Montgomery Burns Games, however no top athletes from around the world want to participate so all athletes are from Shelbyville and Springfield. After the fire was kindled by Leroy "Shakey" McGee, starts the game. Some of the events was skydiving with a snowboarding, fishing and sleigh. Before the last race leads Shelbyville to Springfield with ten points, which means at that the wins the last event, The Ulttra-Extreme Mega-Downhill Snowboarding Competiion wins the event, and it's between Bart Simpson and Larry "Never Lose" Newell. Before the competition begins tell Mr. Burns to Bart that if he wins, he will be able to milk this cash cow in years but if he lost he have a place for him in Fable Burns Family Dungeon. The contest starting and there are tied between Simpson and Newell, but it turns out that Newell has cheated and trixed with Bart's snowboard so he falls off the snowboard and Mr. Burns jumps himself then on his snowboard and compete against Newell, who turns out to be good and Burns win the race. Burns will be celebrated after the victory from the people in Springfield. Under the medal ceremony found Mr. Burns out at he has been victim for a special tryout for U.S. Snowboarding Team. Burns refuses it because he is a champion and Burns Game are superior to the Olympic. He tells to the audience that he not yoke himself to a cart of fools and begin to wonder why he waste his time with these miscreants and goes back to the power plant.
