The Springfield time capsule is a time capsule in Springfield, which was formerly an American Civil War coffin.
History
When Principal Skinner told the students at Springfield Elementary to bring an item to school for the time capsule, Bart put in a sandwich, which he blew his nose with, in the time capsule. Afterwards, Springfield residents gathered at the Town Square where it was buried. It was later discovered that 1000 years from 2014, led to the creatures multiplying. This caused the Planet Express crew in New New York to go back in time to kill one of the Simpson family members to stop this from occurring.
