The A9000 Robots were robots owned by Mr. Burns and made to be employees at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
After Mr. Burns got a large bill to pay for the employees' health care, he decided to fire everyone and hire his intelligent kangaroos instead. However, Waylon Smithers informed him that the kangaroos would steal stationary supplies and run away. Smithers then suggested the robots to Mr. Burns.
After the unveiling of the robots, Mr. Burns fired everyone except for Homer as they needed one human employee to do things such as sign for packages. Mr. Burns even replaced Smithers with a robot.
