James Earl Jones (born January 17, 1931) is an American actor, best known for his distinctive bass voice and for his role as Darth Vader on Star Wars. He voiced a moving man, a narrator, and Serak the Preparer in the season 2 episode "Treehouse of Horror", Maggie Simpson in the season 6 episode "Treehouse of Horror V", and a narrator in the season 9 episode "Das Bus".

James Earl Jones was voted 7th in IGN's "Top 25 Simpsons Guest Stars".

Trivia

In "'Round Springfield", when Bleeding Gums Murphy speaks to Lisa from a cloud, he is joined by Mufasa from The Lion King, Darth Vader, and a CNN announcer—all three of which are voice roles originally portrayed by James Earl Jones, but in this instance imitated by Harry Shearer.
