Cultural references
- The story title is a pun on the filling station catchphrase, "Fill 'er up with regular", a request for the attendant to fill the tank.
- A sign in the window says that Scratchy's Service Station and Lunch Counter sells Henzoil products, a pun on Pennzoil.
- The station also sells Gasso gasoline, a pun on Esso.
- When Scratchy berates Itchy, telling him to get back to work, Itchy is reading a magazine called Mousequire, a pun on Esquire.

Goofs
