They start buying various things that cost a fortune there and Homer is arrested for attacking the emperor (he thought he was a sumo wrestler). Then they're stuck with 1,000,000 yen (Japanese currency), but they need that money to get home. They try to earn money by gutting fish at the Osaka Fish Concern, when on the TV they see the "Super Happy Smile Time Family Wish Show" that can grant the winners a wish if they win. They go the game show to win plane tickets back to Springfield, but to get them, they have to grab them off a bridge that's suspended above a volcano. Meanwhile back in Springfield, Moe sees Homer on TV and he, Lenny, and Carl find out Barney was putting beers on Homer's tab. Back in Japan, the Simpsons get the tickets, but fall in the lava, which turns out to be a Orangeade loaded with Wasabi. When taking off for their return trip home, the Simpsons' plane is attacked by Godzilla, who happens to also be battling Rodan and Mothra, among others. Their plane wriggles free, and they return to Springfield without further incident.

Trivia
- The episode title is a intended or unintended spoof of the Pere Ubu song title "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo".
- An item named "Skittlebrau" can been seen in the 33¢ store. The item was made up by Homer in Bart Star, however Apu claimed there was no such thing.
- When Database is at the java server he is using a grey computer but in the next scene he is useing a orange computer then he is using a grey computer.
- Whilst in the hotel, Bart watches an anime cartoon called 'Battling Seizure Robots', which features a robot with it's eyes flashing so quickly that it gives Bart, and subsiquently the rest of the family, a seizure. This is based on an episode of the Pokémon anime, Electric Soldier Porygon, in which a scene in the episode in which rapid lighting was used in one scene, sent over 700 kids into seizures. The shot of the robot with it's flashing eyes is reused throughout the entire credit sequence.
- The soundbyte of Homer's shock at investing in Fox's News Corp (*Screams* UNDO!! UNDO!! Ohh...) is replayed over the 20th Century Fox Television logo in place of the usual fanfare.
