Stephen Edwin King (born September 21, 1947) is an American author. He voiced himself in the season 12 episode "Insane Clown Poppy".
He also plays in the band the Rock Bottom Remainders. Among the other members are Matt Groening, Mitch Albom, and Amy Tan.[1]

- The Shining: The novel and the 1980 film have been referenced in "Treehouse of Horror", "Brother from the Same Planet" and "Treehouse of Horror V".
- The title of the episode "Maximum Homerdrive" is a pun on the 1986 film Maximum Overdrive, which King directed and which was loosely based on "Trucks", one of King's short stories.
- The short "The Ned Zone" from "Treehouse of Horror XV" is loosely based on King's novel The Dead Zone, where a man gains the ability to predict people's deaths.
