The 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics was a multi-sport event where Abe Simpson competed.

Grampa was in the javelin event. He threw a javelin and it almost hit Adolf Hitler, but it missed. It hit an assassin trying to kill Hitler instead.[1]
When Homer and Bart visited Grampa to do research about the Olympics he told them that he got the bronze medal in Beer Pong at the 1936 Olympics. In Lisa's movie about the Olympics she said that the Olympic flame was introduced in the Berlin 1936 Olympics as a symbol for Prometheus having stole fire from Zeus.[2]
In what was considered a blow to the Aryanism philosophy of the Nazi Party, American Olympian Jesse Owens won the 4 gold medals including 100-meter dash, one of the most popular and prestigious events in sports.[3][4]
