Sunrise at Campobello is a play based on President Franklin D. Roosevelt's struggle when polio left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
History[edit]
The play is stagged at the Springfield Performing Arts Center starring Krusty the Clown as Franklin D. Roosevelt. During the performance, as he was speaking to Princess Kashmir as Eleanor Roosevelt, he stood up from his wheelchair, much to the shock of the audience. It took him a few seconds to realize he was supposed to stay in the wheelchair.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
Sunrise at Campobello is a real Award-winning play by Dore Schary first stagged in 1958 and adapted into a feature film in 1960.
