I have a couple of things to say about some minor details of Laura's article. First, I think I shall start with the "'''Bart's girlfriends'''" category and template:

Oftentimes, people refer Laura as to Bart's girlfriend. I disagree with this statement for two reasons: the first reason is that Laura is about five/six years older than Bart, who is only a child, and she used figurative speech at the end of "[[New Kid on the Block]]" to tell Bart that she likes him, albeit he is too young for her (i.e. the only thing restricting a relationship between them was their age difference). Given to my prior information, this would not make her Bart's "girlfriend"; it would make her one of his crushes. Personally, I think they are cute together (I had to admit it), despite the age gap, but I am going back on topic. If there is going to be any rectification to the article (generally all of the articles pertaining them), the respective category and template "'''Bart's girlfriends'''" should both be replaced/edited to say "'''Bart's crushes'''", because not all girls are your girlfriend once you fall in love with them.

As for the "'''Recurring characters'''" category, I'd like to comment about this: the word "recurring" actually means for something to oftentimes or normally occur. Since Laura only played a major role in one episode of the series, I would categorize her under "One-time characters". When I think of that category, I think not only of characters who only appeared in the show once, I also think of characters who only once had a notable role in ''The Simpsons'', which Laura (and I think a majority of Bart's other crushes) had, if you think about it.

The Bart's Girlfriends template & category and the "Recurring Characters" category[edit]

I have a couple of things to say about some minor details of Laura's article. First, I think I shall start with the "Bart's girlfriends" category and template:

Oftentimes, people refer Laura as to Bart's girlfriend. I disagree with this statement for two reasons: the first reason is that Laura is about five/six years older than Bart, who is only a child, and she used figurative speech at the end of "New Kid on the Block" to tell Bart that she likes him, albeit he is too young for her (i.e. the only thing restricting a relationship between them was their age difference). Given to my prior information, this would not make her Bart's "girlfriend"; it would make her one of his crushes. Personally, I think they are cute together (I had to admit it), despite the age gap, but I am going back on topic. If there is going to be any rectification to the article (generally all of the articles pertaining them), the respective category and template "Bart's girlfriends" should both be replaced/edited to say "Bart's crushes", because not all girls are your girlfriend once you fall in love with them.

As for the "Recurring characters" category, I'd like to comment about this: the word "recurring" actually means for something to oftentimes or normally occur. Since Laura only played a major role in one episode of the series, I would categorize her under "One-time characters". When I think of that category, I think not only of characters who only appeared in the show once, I also think of characters who only once had a notable role in The Simpsons, which Laura (and I think a majority of Bart's other crushes) had, if you think about it.

I'll leave all of you to discuss this idea here. :) Gazlene the Pork Girl (talk) 19:25, March 24, 2014 (EDT)

What you say about being his girlfriend it true. We probably should remove that. As for the recurring character thing, she made cameo appearances in another episode and the movie and an appearance in a comic story as well as three books. Therefore, she is recurring. I've removed the "Bart's girlfriends" template from the page. As for recurring character, I stand by it. She is recurring, as per the definition.
recur: occur again periodically or repeatedly.
She has "occurred" again periodically. Synonyms of "recur" are "happen again, reoccur, occur again, be repeated, repeat (itself)", all that also apply to Laura. The Solar Dragon 19:36, March 24, 2014 (EDT)
I must have just misinterpreted the definition. Sometimes we have different ideas on what a word means. Gazlene the Pork Girl (talk) 19:39, March 24, 2014 (EDT)
I generally go off Google's define: function as that usually gives the most common/popular/agreed on definition of a word. The Solar Dragon 19:41, March 24, 2014 (EDT)
