Uriah's Heap Recycling Center is a recycling center in Springfield.

History

Principal Skinner and students of Springfield Elementary School came to Uriah's Heap Recycling Center to sell newspapers that needed to be recycled. The hippie who was working there only gave them 75 cents for the newspapers. Angered, Skinner was forced to cancel a trip to Albany, toss the pay check away, back into a surviving tree and drives off.

Behind the Laughter

The name of the recycling center is a reference to the Burns-esque character Uriah Heep in Charles Dickens' novel David Copperfield, which is one of the books that Homer is seen bringing in to recycle.
