Nedward "Ned" Flanders Jr. is the Simpson family's extremely religious next-door neighbor.
Flanders grew up in New York and was the son of "freaky beatniks" who did not discipline Ned and let him run wild. Ned is very honest and sincere in carrying out the Christian doctrines of charity, kindness and compassion to an extent unseen within the rest of the Springfield community.
