  • The fight in the teachers' lounge parodies the typical "saloon fight" scene, a staple of many old Western movies.
  • In Bart's dream, he parodies Superman, taking the asteroid dodgeball and throwing it back at the alien spacecraft.
  • Comic Book Guy refers to Born on the Fourth of July as "Tom Cruise's last good movie."
