Hail to the Chimp! is a movie shown at the Springfield Drive-In. Its plot is based around a monkey president of the USA.
Plot[edit]
The first scene took place in the Oval Office of the White House, where two officials complained to the president about his report, which was full of technical jargon and partisan rhetoric. The chair the president was sitting on turned round, revealing him to be a chimp, and he beat the officials up. The second scene showed the president jumping out of a burning Air Force One.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
- The movie's title is a pun on the patriotic song "Hail to the Chief".
- The real-life video game Hail to the Chimp was named for this movie.
- The novel Breakfast of Champions (1973) by Kurt Vonnegut references a fictional short story called "Hail to the Chief" which features a Chimpanzee who becomes President of the United States, written by the fictional author Kilgore Trout.
