There's No Business Like Shoe Business is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #75.
Synopsis[edit]
Thee newest designer of the be-all and end-all in haute couture is none other than Maggie Simpson.
Plot[edit]
Lisa wants to use her her jumbo fun paper but Bart has used it to make a paper airplane, a kite, and a greeting card. Lisa begins to ponder what she and Bart will do now instead of arts and crafts. Bart is sitting on the couch when Maggie begins to draw with her pen on his shoes. She draws a racecar, which Bart actually thinks is nice. Lisa then asks Maggie to draw something on her sandals.
Maggie continues drawing on the rest of the family's shoes, and Lisa shows them to Homer and Marge. The shoes prove to suit their personalities and they also like the new design of the shoes. Bart and Homer decide to showcase Maggie's talent, and start taking charge of their friends to let her redesign their shoes, and the customers are satisfied. After a week, Marge finds that they have overused her; she has not only begun redesigning the shoes, but also other things such as pacifiers. Homer asks Marge to stop worrying, and Bart tells her that only positive things have become of this: Bart was not thrown out of the classroom today thanks to Edna's new shoes. Maggie's shoes start to spread across the world and reach Paris. Marge is in on the fashion craze too, and everyone wants to look like her. But all good things come to an end; in Springfield, the shoes start causing problems.
Everyone is so fond of their shoes that they are always looking at their shoes and crashing into each other. It gets so bad that the city's residents decide to ban wearing designer shoes, and people who make them will be put in jail. This means that Maggie is sent to jail, but luckily she has grown tired of designing things and starts to build miniature houses. The city's inhabitants love Maggie's miniature house and ask her to make some for them too.
