Cultural references
- The title is a pun on the rapper Puff Daddy.
- The advert campaign is a parody of the Fruity Pebbles advertising campaign which featured The Flintstones character Barney Rubble trying to steal Fred Flintstone's Fruity Pebbles.
- Barney's first disguise is of Steve Irwin.
- When Barney calls Homer "Fred" (referencing Fred Flintstone), Homer asks Barney how he'd like it if Homer started calling him "Otis", a reference to Otis Campbell from The Andy Griffith Show.
- One of Barney's disguises is of Mr. T's character from The A-Team, B. A. Baracus. Homer tells him that he's "not exactly A-Team material".
- Barney's final disguise is of Barney Rubble from The Flintstones, going full circle back to what the advertising campaign is based on.
Continuity
- Homer tells Barney that he wouldn't fall for his trick, even if he had a Poochie puppet. ("The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show")
