Only notable articles should be made. What is notable is described below:

What is notable

Characters

  • Named characters who appear in the show, no matter how minor, should have an article.
  • Unnamed characters who play a decent part in an episode should have an article.
  • Unnamed recurring characters should have an article.
  • Named mentioned celebrities can have an article. If it is a reference to a celebrity, the reference should be explained. Else, the article could be deemed not notable.
  • Mentioned characters who are not real-world celebrities should not get an article, unless there is a large amount of information given about them.
    • With a few exceptions, the celebrity in question should have a Wikipedia page to be considered notable.
  • Mentioned members of main or prominent recurring characters families can get articles.
  • Unnamed mentioned characters who have quite a bit of information revealed about them and are shown to have some relation to a recurring character could possibly have an article.
  • Characters voiced by guest stars should have an article, unless they are voice only, in which case it depends on how many lines they have had.
  • Unnamed, non-speaking characters do not get an article.

Locations

  • Named locations should have an article.
  • Unnamed locations visited by someone who is a focus of the episode should have an article.
  • Recurring locations should have an article.
  • Mentioned locations only get an article if there is a fair amount of information about them given.

Vehicles

  • Recurring vehicles should have an article.
  • Named vehicles should have an article.
  • Unnamed vehicles that play a big part in an episode should have an article.
  • Mentioned vehicles should not get an article.
  • Things like bikes, skateboards etc. should not get articles.

Hit and Run

  • All unlockable vehicles, hidden vehicles and important vehicles get an article. All vehicles just seen around do not.

Media

  • Media that is seen and named should have articles.
  • Magazines, comics and books that appear and have their front cover seen should have articles.
    • If just the spine of the book is seen, it isn't notable enough for an article.
  • If a media is only mentioned or written on a sign, it's not notable for an article.
  • All episodes of The Itchy & Scratchy Show should have articles, whether named or not.
  • Magazines, books and comics with generic names seen in background shots should not get articles.

Songs

  • All background songs do not get an article.
  • Songs written specifically for The Simpsons should get an article.
  • Songs sung by characters should get an article.
  • Instrumental songs do not get an article.

Cast, crew and guest stars

  • All credited people should get an article.
  • Individual band members, even if they are not credited, should get an article.
  • Uncredited crew members can get an article only if they are confirmed by a reliable source to have taken part in the episode.

Reference pages

  • If a movie or TV show has been referenced at least 5 times on The Simpsons, it gets an article.
    • This includes 5 different references in the same episode.
    • It also includes 5 separate references in different episodes.
  • If a movie or TV show references The Simpsons at least 5 times, it gets an article.

Merchandise

  • Only official English merchandise should have pages.
    • Official foreign language merchandise can have pages if they are considered notable by an admin.
  • Official English language media (video games, comics, books, albums etc.) should get pages.
    • English language in this case means media released in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia.
  • Board games and card games should have articles.
  • Miscellaneous Simpsons branded food and drink should not usually have articles. If there is a significant cultural impact, or is inspired by the show in some way, then they may get an article.
  • All other merchandise can be put into tables on pages about the type of merchandise.

Companies

  • Production companies and companies that worked on The Simpsons and The Simpsons Movie should have articles.
  • Game publishers and developers and companies credited for video games should have articles.
  • English comic book publishers and any company credited for comics should have articles.
  • Major board game and toy makers should have articles if they have made multiple different products.
  • If a company had a Simpsons related advert, or advertised for The Simpsons, they should only have the company name redirect to the relevant page.

Others

  • Generic articles, i.e. something that is part of a wide range (Apples, Mouth Wash, etc.) do not get an article, unless there is a large emphasis on them in The Simpsons, i.e. Donuts and Pork chops.
  • Mentioned subjects that are not listed above should not get an article unless there is a fair amount of information given about them.

Crossovers

Rules that apply to crossover episodes. These rules apply to characters, locations etc. that are from the media that crossed over into The Simpsons.

Characters

  • Speaking characters get articles.
  • Characters who the camera focuses on get articles.
  • Background characters don't get articles, even if they're established characters in the other media.

Locations

  • Named locations get articles.

Media

  • Named media get articles.

Not notable

If you think an article is not notable, you can place the {{Delete}} template on the top of the article then bring the issue up on the deletion page. This will get viewed by others and then a verdict will be passed once there is enough discussion. A lot of articles may have to be handled on a case by case basis to deem whether it is notable or not.

If an article is obviously against the notability policy and you feel that it needs no discussion, list it here.
