The Maggie & Moe Mysteries!: M is for Zirconia! is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #114.

Plot[edit]

Moe is babysitting Maggie, and they go for a walk. As they pass the museum, Maggie sees someone break through a window but Moe misinterprets Maggie's signals, so they go in as visitors. Inside, an announcement comes over the PA system that someone has stolen the museum's giant zirconia. The security system seals the visitors until the police arrive. Maggie and Moe dress up as detectives and begin to interrogate the visitors. First Moe accuses Grandma Van Houten of stealing it, but Molloy says that she does not have the skill, and he says that they must be sharper than him because he has already stolen it once. Moe realizes that this leaves only one logical perpetrator, and accuses Grandma Van Houten again. Snake then asks Moe to stop accusing that old lady of something she didn't do, and says that it would make more sense to accuse the guy with a criminal record who stole a comb from the pharaoh's tomb. Moe regrets and says that he should have accused him. Snake tells Moe that he has not stolen it, because it would totally clash with the decor of his hideout. Maggie points to the culprit, but Moe misunderstands and accuses Grandma Van Houten again. Mr. Burns asks Moe to leave the woman alone and says that he and Dr. Colossus spent the entire time in the exhibit talking about stealing it. Dr. Colossus says that it is not him because he came to the wrong museum; he needs the giant ruby in the Shelbyville Museum to power his death laser.

Mr. Burns says that he has been trying to steal that monstrous bauble since this morning, but it's just too heavy for him to lift with his withered appendages. Moe gives up and does not figure out who has stolen it, but Maggie points to the culprit again. This time Moe sees that it is a bird that has stolen it. Clancy Wiggum thanks Moe and tells him that the bird will get twenty years and is eligible for parole in ten. While they laugh at the fact that the bird is now a jailbird, Snake, Mr. Burns, Dr. Colossus, Molloy and Grandma Van Houten leave the museum, with each one having stolen something.
