Special episodes?

Only Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire is an episode at all. The rest are all behind the scenes, celebrations, PSAs, or spin-offs. And if Open Fire counts as a special, surely all 22 Treehouse of Horror episodes as well as several other Christmas episodes also count? Digifiend 21:36, 15 April 2012 (EDT)

Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire is classed as a special. In 1991 (I think) they submitted both that episode and Some Enchanted Evening to an awards ceremony. Only way they could do that was because Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire was a special, not an actual episode, although we treat it as one. The other specials, we treat as specials as they are special one off episodes, behind the scenes documentaries, shorts etc. ^{(Talk - Contribs.)} 01:20, 16 April 2012 (EDT)

Special shorts or clips

I think we should split this page up into a list of specials (full episode specials that is) and a list of special clips (featuring the new Homer Shake, the Fiscal Cliff video, other online exclusive clips and just quick clips and messages). I think the documentaries should be split from the cartoon content. It just seems weird having things like The World According to The Simpsons in there.--Cook879 20:20, 8 March 2013 (EST)

(Six months later) I agree that documentaries about the show should be split from the 'non-official episode but still fictional' stuff. I'd also suggest, while not exactly the same as things like the godawful "Homer Shake", that "Simpsons Visit Oprah", "Cosby Show end reaction" and "George Bush speech reaction" should be here as well, for completeness sake.
