Reconsidering image[edit]

It's the establishing shot the show itself used for Cuba. It's not just "one building," but one of the most important national symbols for Cubans and other people for Cuba like the Statue of Liberty for America or Big Ben for England. http://insightcuba.com/blog/2017/10/25/el-morro http://theculturetrip.com/caribbean/cuba/articles/what-makes-havanas-el-morro-castle-stand-out-from-the-crowd http://havanatourcompany.com/morro-castle-cuba Snowball II (talk) 17:13, April 16, 2024 (EDT)

We also don't just have a shot of the Statue of Liberty for the USA article or Big Ben for the England article. The images show off more. Using England as an example, it shows off Big Ben and the surrounding area. Showing off just one building, even if it's iconic, doesn't really feel like the best representation for a country as a whole. Especially when we have more shots of wider areas of the capital city of said country. The Solar Dragon 19:20, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
It's not a single building, it's an establishing with Havana Harbor and fishing boats and the actual Cuban flag and a sign gag which is very in-line with this show. That's more going on the picture then the one for Scotland. The other just a cityscape of Havana and also don't have a shot of a specific cityscape for Seattle or Detroit or Atlanta or wherever used for the United States either. Just deferring to what the show decided as for it's establishing shot they decided to create. Snowball II (talk) 19:36, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
I do see your point, but I'm kind of torn myself. I've just put the question of which image to use to people on Discord to hopefully get some other input. The exact question I asked was "ignoring quality (I plan on uploading a higher quality version of whichever one) which do you think is a better establishing shot of Cuba for the wiki article for the country?" and then the two images, so hopefully we'll get some impartial input on which image to use. I won't delete the image you uploaded yet but if others think it's better for the article, I will make it the main image for Cuba. The Solar Dragon 19:45, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
There's also a map in this episode getyarn.io/yarn-clip/192c5e36-2562-4346-be0b-2ab19e6be2cd or view of the island frinkiac.com/caption/S09E20/1126074 Snowball II (talk) 19:52, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
Or this feels it might work too http://frinkiac.com/caption/S09E20/1147946 and if I had known about this sign gag, probably would have use it first. http://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/f30384a4-6cde-41df-a234-076d79305c8d%20https://frinkiac.com/caption/S09E20/1147946 Snowball II (talk) 19:58, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
Also probably wouldn't hurt to some context and history to other editors on Morro Castle. Snowball II (talk) 20:16, April 16, 2024 (EDT)
The "location" section of episode appearance pages often have both "Cuba" and "Havana" so another point to add would be that it might better to have different images. Snowball II (talk) 10:53, April 17, 2024 (EDT)
We always try to refrain from using interior shots of locations for their main images, so an interior shot definitely wouldn't be used for the image. As for what the people on Discord said, I had six responses all say that the current image is better, which I do agree with. Yes, there might not be like a historic landmark in the picture, but it shows off more of the country. As for the same image being used for multiple location articles, that's not really an issue either. It happens occasionally, like with England and London, and I don't see a point to changing it just to make the images different. The Solar Dragon 11:20, April 17, 2024 (EDT)
Not exactly a total shocker, but I do appreciate an effort to see my side and not just dismissed. Snowball II (talk) 11:38, April 17, 2024 (EDT)
