Sun Burns! is a The Simpsons Summer Shindig comic story first printed in Simpsons Summer Shindig #7.
Synopsis[edit]
Mr. Burns' decision to commandeer Springfield's public beach amidst a heatwave turns the citizens of Springfield against him.
Plot[edit]
The Simpson family and other people of Springfield visit the Springfield Public Beach. When they arrive, they discover that Mr. Burns bought the beach. Nelson and Bart try to have fun but find that Burns' dogs guard the sea and that he has hired paintball snipers in the lifeguard tower. He also hired supermodels to make people feel bad about their looks. Lisa asks Mr. Burns to change his mind, but he refuses. Mr. Burns starts sunbathing on the beach and does not use the sunblock that Smithers offers him.
Burns begins to fry in the sun, but the paintball snipers prevent Smithers from helping him. Smithers gets upset and starts crying, so Lisa and Grampa decide to rescue him. They take a rowboat and row to shore, and when they are near the beach, they throw bacon to the dogs so that Lisa can swim to the beach. When she reaches the beach, she dazzles the paintball snipers with a mirror, which also distracts the models who check on themselves. Lisa manages to rescue Burns and wraps him in aloe-coated bandages. Burns thanks Lisa and Grampa and promises that everyone will enter the beach for free. The family begins to enjoy the beach, and Lisa is happy that Burns has finally changed. Grampa says that he did not, and it turns out that Burns now charges $20 for people who want to leave the beach.
