Quality Candles is a candle manufacturer based at 1954 Burns Parkway in Springfield.
History[edit]
Abraham Simpson wrote a letter to Quality Candles complaining that its birthday candles failed to go out when he tried to blow out the candle on his 80th birthday cake. He argued that the occasion was supposed to be festive and dignified, but the candle's flame merely leaned over a few degrees despite his best efforts. Simpson sarcastically asked whether he deserved a bonus wish because the candle had not gone out, then wished that the company's entire business would “go up in smoke.” In a postscript, he suggested manufacturing half-size birthday candles to save time and chocolate-flavored candles as an alternative to the pink variety, which he disliked.
