The International Brotherhood of Jazz Dancers, Pastry Chefs and Nuclear Technicians is the union to which the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant employees are affiliated. Chuckie Fitzhugh originally led it until his mysterious disappearance, after which Homer Simpson succeeded him. The union is best known for Local 634's strike at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, where they successfully defended their dental plan against concessions.

History[edit]

At a union meeting, Carl announces that the newest contract requires workers to give up their dental plan in exchange for a free keg of beer at union meetings. Homer gradually realizes that losing the dental plan would force him to pay for Lisa's braces, prompting him to act. He reminds everyone of the importance of the dental plan, and with Carl's encouragement, Homer is quickly elected as the new union president.

Under Homer’s leadership, the union unanimously votes to strike in response to Charles Montgomery Burns' attempt to revoke their dental plan. The strike concludes when Burns concedes to the union's demands, on the condition that Homer resign as president.
