Blog:Letting admins win Golden Homers
Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki
I think admins should be allowed to win Golden Homers, as he only difference they have from normal users is that they can edit protected pages. This wouldn't make them any better or worse than normal users. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:33, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
Support (2)[edit]
- As the user who suggested this, I am of course supporting. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:33, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
- Sysop user rights are exactly that: User rights. They're not an achievement or an award for great editing, but rather tools that help in editing. Recognition for their contributions should be encouraged. Supergeeky1 05:42, 5 April 2012 (EDT)

Neutral (2)[edit]
- Not really sure honestly. At the moment I don't really mind either way. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 18:59, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

Oppose (1)[edit]
- Users won't have a chance at all! Administrators are the best users. Let users without admin right have the Golden Homer. --Fred (Talk • Contribs. • Editcount) 01:07, 28 April 2012 (EDT)
New award (2)[edit]
- Didn't there used to be a monthly award for which admins were eligible? Bringing that one back might be worth a thought. -- Mythigator 09:38, 21 April 2012 (EDT)
- Like Mythigator. /AleWi 10:12, 21 April 2012 (EDT)
Comments[edit]
- The Golden Homer is about good users anyway. Right now, the same users are being nominated over and over again. I'm pretty sure somewhere the rules stated something like, "Admins cannot be nominated as they are nearly always good editors." Lots of our normal are good editors too. It just makes no sense. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:36, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
- The reason I put the rule in is because admins generally edit a lot more than most users and usually make great contributions. If this was to pass, I would exempt myself from winning anyway. 1. because I give out the award every month (and it would be weird giving it to myself) and 2. because I would get nominated every month and would probably win one of the awards every month. Other admins may feel the same or differently. I don't really mind either way but I will not be winning any awards :P The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 05:39, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
- Somebody can give out the awards, and also, I do about the same contributions as you, Solar (I just started editing later than you). Right now on Wikisimpsons, there is barely any difference between the contributions of normal users and admins. If a user has good edits, it doesn't matter if they're an admin or not, they have done good edits. Admins like Smiley12 would never win a Homer at this point in time, as Smiley12 is semi-active and doesn't make very many edits. Being promoted to an admin does not mean "You are an admin, now you are a brilliant contributor." It means "You are an admin, you are allowed to edit fully protected pages and do slightly more things." I'll see what other people have to say. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:51, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
- And Solar, you could be nominated every month, but that's because you're a great user, nothing to do with your adminship. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 15:38, 5 April 2012 (EDT)
- This doesn't make any sense... being an admin doesn't make you a better or worse editor. If I became an admin right now, my edits would stay the same, the only different thing is that I would delete some pages and edit MediaWiki pages. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 12:51, 29 April 2012 (EDT)
