Bad Hair Day!/References

Cultural references[edit]
- When Patty says that she and Selma have been certified "to perform organ transplant surgery in Mexico" on the basis of their work with a hairdresser's practice head, it is a reference to the negative stereotype of medical schools in Mexico and Central America having lax standards, as portrayed in the 1985 comedy Bad Medicine.
- The saying "a little gel can make anything work" (which Patty says that they learned from Dr. Nick's Internet Beauty Academy) is reminiscent of the Brylcreem advertising slogan "A little dab'll do ya!"
Continuity[edit]
- Apu still sells meat products of dubious origin (previously seen in "Homer and Apu"), as he has a "Mystery Meat Clearance Sale" where Homer blows the family's monthly budget (thus necessitating Lisa getting a makeover from Patty and Selma instead of at a salon).
- Dr. Nick is again portrayed as a questionable practitioner of medicine and other fields (this time, hairdressing) as he runs an Internet beauty academy where the instructors certify students to perform transplant surgery.
- Patty's and Selma's dislike of Homer is referenced, as one of their practice heads looks exactly like Homer and has a knife stuck through it.
