A Recipe for Disaster is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #71.
Synopsis[edit]
- Worried that people are getting bored of her cooking and baking, Marge decides to try some new recipes from a cookbook for the church social potluck.
Plot[edit]
Marge has a nightmare where she is chased from the First Church of Springfield by a group of Springfielders because she ruined the church potluck by making the same old thing she always does. When she wakes up from the nightmare, she wakes Homer up to tell him about it. Homer pulls out a cookbook from under his pillow and tells Marge that he has the solution for her. Marge reads Awesome Recipes from Springfield's Iron Chefs and finds that the recipes are all from townspeople.
The first recipe is Groundskeeper Willie's Hawaiian Haggis Luau Surprise, which Marge thinks is weird and dangerous. The second recipe is Chief Wiggum's Paddy-Wagon-Cake, which concerns Marge because handcuffs inside a cake could result in dentist bills. Marge is surprised to find that the third recipe is Homer's Beer Biscuits. Marge decides to try some of the recipes and take them to the potluck.
On the day of the potluck, everyone becomes angry with Marge. Edna Krabappel says that the coconut gave her a concussion, Principal Skinner says that his mother chipped a tooth on the handcuffs, and Reverend Lovejoy is angry about beer in the Lord's house. Marge apologizes to everyone.
