You Only Move Twice

You Only Move Twice is the 2nd episode of the Eighth season of The Simpsons. It features the guest voice of Albert Brooks as supervillian/GLOBEX owner Hank Scorpio. The title and parts of the main plot parody the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice". It features a caricature of James Bond who appears in a Goldfinger style scene. The song played over the credits is similar to the Goldfinger theme.

Plot

When Homer is accepted a job at GLOBEX Corporation in Cypress Creek, the family decide to move there. Whilst there, Homer takes to his new boss really well, and starts to enjoy his new lifestyle. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the rest of the family. Marge is unable to do any work at all and descends into alcoholism. Bart gets put in the Remedial Class at school, and Lisa is allergic to all the area's plant life.

Back at work, Homer fails to realise that his boss is in fact an evil genius bent on world domination. But Homer enjoys his work and soon becomes a very competent manager. But then, his family tells him that they want to move back to Springfield. Stuck with a choice, Homer decides to visit his boss in his office. But whilst there, the military and Hank's henchmen break out into a war.

In the midst, Homer decides to leave. When the Simpsons return to Springfield, they find out that Hank Scorpio has seized the East Coast. Homer then picks up a letter saying that Hank Scorpio has given him a gift. "It's not the Dallas Cowboys, but it's a start." He soon finds out he now owns the Denver Broncos.

Hank Scorpio: Don't call me that word. I don't like things that elevate me above the other people. I'm just like you. Oh sure, I come later in the day, I get paid a lot more, and I take longer vacations, but I don't like the word 'boss'.

Trivia

Homer is disappointed with the Denver Broncos, even though he wished to be John Elway in #9F22, "Cape Feare".

Homer buys Tom Landry's hat in this episode. In later episodes like "Bart Star" he is seen wearing it.
