The song quickly became a number one hit. When Kent Brockman interviewed Krusty and asked what he planned to do with the royalties, Krusty replied that first they had to pay for promotion, shipping, distribution, and limo rental fees: "Whatever's left, we throw down the well."
After Timmy O'Toole was revealed to be a prank played by Bart, the song swiftly fell from #1 to #97.
