The Secret Origin of Bug Boy is a Radioactive Man comic story first printed in Bongo Super-Heroes.

Plot[edit]

Radioactive Man is talking to the female members of the Superior Squad about his origin story again, which makes Bug Boy jealous. As the superheroes get back to playing truth or dare, it becomes Bug Boy's turn. After being asked to tell his origin story, he refuses and runs off. Bug Boy then tells his origin story to the bugs he taught English.

On the planet Kranium-4, Bug Boy was considered dumb with a "low IQ" of 350, even at two years old. His fellow children at the 42nd Hiveminder Station, Chex 17-22-7 and Flox 43-22-7, were creating better inventions than Bug Boy could. The Grand Hive-Minder was also sad at Bug Boy, and another of the species suggested painful surgery to make him smarter. Bug Boy then decided he wanted to leave the planet and saw Earth through a makeshift telescope. Bug Boy takes a ship and heads to Earth, accidentally destroying Kranium-4 in the process with the interdimensional drive. Bug Boy then crashed on Earth and was taken in by the Bentleys, a couple who owned a farm. Bug Boy then went on to be a freak show attraction before becoming a television pundit, which is how he made his living.

The bugs tell Bug Boy that he is an awful person for destroying his home and killing his people, although Bug Boy suggests that they could be stuck in an interdimensional space. Radioactive Man then comes into the room and the bugs try to tell him Bug Boy's story. However, Radioactive Man kills the bugs, thinking he's just hearing things.
