The Crab with the Golden Claws is a comic book in the Adventures of Tintin series, starring Tintin, his dog Snowy and his friend Captain Haddock. Bart has a copy of the book.

History

When Lisa was browsing the shelves at Coolsville Comics & Toys, she found a display that included many Tintin comics, including The Crab with the Golden Claws.[1]

When the Simpsons traveled to Ireland, Lisa mentioned that Ireland was on the forefront of Europe's "tech-boom". Bart mockingly added "In your face, Belgium!", whereupon Marge threatened Bart by saying "If you hate Belgium so much, maybe I should take your Tintins away!" This scared Bart, who clutched a copy of the book The Crab with the Golden Claws, promising he would be good.[2]

Behind the Laughter

  • Belgium was the home country of Tintin creator Hergé, which explains Marge's threat to take away Bart's Tintin books as punishment for disrespecting the country.
  • The Crab with the Golden Claws is a real Tintin comic.
