Renaming Main Page

Right now, this wiki isn't doing very well on Google. It comes up as #3 in a search for "simpsons wiki", under Wikipedia and another Simpsons wiki. On a search for "simpsons", it doesn't come up in the top 300. Google is a major way for readers and contributors to find the site, so it would be great if we could improve this.

One technique that's been really helpful on a lot of wikis is to rename the main page to something that people would be searching for -- in this case, "The Simpsons Wiki" or just "The Simpsons".

As it is, the main page will rank very highly for people who are searching for "Wikisimpsons"... but nobody ever looks for that. Renaming the main page will help people find us a lot easier.

The Simpsons is actually helping we are now number 1 on the google top 300 if you search Wikisimpsons.

I have just restored spam/vandalism from the main page. Does the IP need to be blocked? IP: 217.33.74.20

Image

The image is now starting to get old. Anyway I beleieve that everyday the featured image, episode, and article should change.Dr. Ralph Wiggum 13:45, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

• Reply * The Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 1 has gone, and yes was extremly old , it was then replaced by "Enternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind", a few days ago. They are now replacing it more often. red links

i'm really fed up of the pointless red links and wrong links such as [[Springfield (Simpsons)|Springfield]] when all you need is Springfield.and they take ages to edit out as you have to find them.Sgtcook 20:36, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Featured Content

The Featured content has been the same since, around November

Not even around November maybye like September or a few days earlier then September. I mean the image is the biggest one as it is getting very old and you can obviously see the character's mouths open. Also, the other featured content is becoming old as well. I think it has to be nominated and under a certain page because all it says on it is {{Featured Article}},{{Featured Picture}} and {{Featured Episode}}.Sgtcook 12:09, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

You have to be admin to change it. This is because the are templates and have been locked by an admin and only another admin can unblock it. So we might be stuck with the same content for a while. Anyway I do agree with John Swartzelder and Bart Gets an F being featured content as they are really good articles, (just remove the quotes on Bart Gets an F as quotes make pages look messy) and you have it. The image is the only one I really disagree with, I think it was just chosen as featured image because it is a really memorable scene. I mean there are more choices for the image, as we could just get the circus couch gag or any random scene for featured image. Anyway what I hate most about the image is you can see the mouth's of Homer, Lisa, and Bart open and it is in a very low defenition. But we might have to wait until the templates are unlocked so we can change the content.Dr. Ralph Wiggum 23:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

The Simpsons Biographies

       This is an idea that I really think will boost the amount of people who visit this wiki.

I am a HUGE Simpsons fan and a proud owner of 11 Simpsons seasons on DVD ,and I would love to see the biographies on all of the Simpsons and the characters in the show. Thanks A Bunch!

Spam?

Hi ive been visiting numerous of pageson this site and have been seeing this on alot of pages about characters.

"Great Great Nephew. Bart Great Great Nieces Lisa, Maggie Great Nieces Marge, patty and selma Great Nephew, In law Homer Brother in law Abe"

Is someone spamming that or is that intended to be there, i have the feeling its not supposed to.

Video games pic?

OK, there's Template:Ep, which is used for the TV show in the Appearances box for characters (i've revamped Homers). There's also Bon (for comics) and UL (for the Tracy Ullman shorts). Where's the one for Video Games? Does it still need to be made, and if so, what picture would suit it? Are there any other catagories for appearances (the templates aren't in a group)? Don't think there's any for adverts or books; i've come across Ullman Shorts (Ul), Episodes (Ep), the movie (mov), Treehouse of Horror (THOH), comics (Bon), and games does exist (Game).

Hiding attributes?

In the infoboxes (episode, character etc.), I could swear there's a way to hide attributes: for example, if you don't fill in a 'hair' attribute on a Character template for Milhouse's page, then the 'hair' line doesn't show up at all. This wiki needs serious fixing

There are too many stubs, bad spelling and grammar, and plus some pages I can't even find here. It needs to be more updated. BuddyComics 08:13 27 September 2009

Well i and other user can't do everything. We have lives away from the wiki, like school. It's up to users like you to fix these things.I had been using the AutoWiki Browser to fix spellings (my spellcheck is in British English), but it hasn't been working recently.--Sgtcook 15:46, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Skin
