David "Dave" Thomas (born May 20, 1949) is a Canadian comedian and actor. He appeared as Rex Banner in the episode "Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment" and voiced Bob Hope in "Bart Has Two Mommies". He is best known for his work on the series Second City Television, a big influence on The Simpsons, especially the character Doug McKenzie in a sketch alongside Rick Maronis; the characters later starred in the movie Strange Brew (1983). Thomas also made recurring appearances on shows such as Mission Hill and King of the Hill and starred as Russell Norton in the sitcom Grace Under Fire from 1993 to 1998. He also had roles in films such as Brother Bear (2003).
