Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikisimpsons!
Thank you for taking an interest in our wiki. If you have any troubles, feel free to ask questions on any experienced editors' talk page. Also, you could look at a help page.
Here are a few pages to help out new editors such as most likely yourself:
- Help pages, your first stop if you need any help
- Editing help, in case you have questions on how to properly edit articles
- Policy pages — failure to abide by these will result in consequences.
Please sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your name and the date. Signing your comments is important, as it lets other editors know who has posted which comments.
Again, welcome! Cook879 13:31, 21 October 2012 (EDT)
Plots from Wikipedia
Hi, please read Wikisimpsons:Plaigarism. It states that content should not be copied from Wikipedia, or any other source. If you want to write a plot, feel free to write your own. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 05:42, 21 December 2012 (EST)
- Scratch that last message, I made a mistake, sorry. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 06:47, 21 December 2012 (EST)
☆The Golden Homer Award☆
The Golden Homer Award
Congratulations! For your outstanding service to articles you have been awarded the Golden Homer Award for December 2012! |
Feel free to put {{User Golden Homer|December 2012}} on your user page.--Cook879 15:05, 1 January 2013 (EST)
Character statuses
Hi, Please read Wikisimpsons:Character statuses. It has a section explaining real life people and what happens when they die. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 03:50, 12 July 2013 (EDT)
Invisible Bart
Hi, how did you do that to Bart? We have a few location images with characters obstructing the outside and I was wondering whether you could remove them from those? Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 17:46, November 28, 2013 (EST)
Characters introduced in season X
Hi, the Characters introduced in season X categories are only intended for recurring characters, those that have made more than one appearance. Can you stop adding them to one-time character pages please? Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 18:45, January 7, 2014 (EST)
Images with play buttons (or any other button like that)
Please, please, please, please, please do not upload any images with play buttons on. It took us ages to get rid of all images with play buttons, mouse cursors, YouTube bars etc. We do not want to have to do so again. We would rather have no image at all than one with a play button in the way. The reason for this is if there is no image at all, someone would be more likely to realize this and upload one. If they see there's an image, they may leave it and not look at it properly. You can quickly print screen when you get to the image you want. It usually takes a few tries but it's not too hard. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 18:46, January 11, 2014 (EST)
Preview button
Hi, please use the "Show preview" button rather than making multiple edits to a page. It clogs up recent changes and looks bad. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:57, January 19, 2014 (EST)
Wikia Dump
Hello, when making big changes like that template system, please ask the admins about it first. Then, we will decide whether it is a good idea and maybe implement it. In the case of Wikia Dump, it isn't very good. Since we moved from Wikia, a large portion of our articles will be similar to theirs, around 6,000 of them. If you notice any of our articles created after the move using content very similar to Wikia's content, tell me and I'll remove it and warn the offending user. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 03:01, February 24, 2014 (EST)
Images
Hello, when constantly asking Loco87 to upload higher quality images of images you claim are poor quality, can you please look at Category:Low quality images. We have many images that are of worse quality than those you claim are bad quality and these should take priority. If there are any you feel are bad quality, put them in that category and someone will get round to it eventually. AleWi is in the process of uploading all episodes to Google Drive accounts and when that's finished, we'll have DVD quality episodes for those that are released on DVD to get images from. It's a slow process though so it will take time for that to be complete. Until then, Loco is only one person so can you stop with the constant requests and try and focus on other areas please? Thanks, The Solar Dragon 16:38, February 25, 2014 (EST)
Editing policy pages
Hello, please do not add new things into policy pages. The only people who can do so without a community discussion are admins. Everyone else has to bring it up on the policy talk page and discuss adding it. Otherwise, we would have all sorts of random bits of policy added. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 03:48, February 26, 2014 (EST)
Check your emails, the one you used to register on Wikisimpsons. I sent you something you might want to read. The Solar Dragon 15:52, February 27, 2014 (EST)
Articles on future episodes
Hello, the only articles about future episodes should be the episode tabs themselves. All other articles should be created in your userspace first then moved once the episode airs. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 14:26, March 12, 2014 (EDT)
Promo images
Hello, promo images stay in the format they were originally in, mainly .jpg. Please do not replace them with lesser quality .png images. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 17:28, March 23, 2014 (EDT)
- Those re-uploads, is for the article, List of couch gags. PNG have more quality than JPG. --BTony70099 (talk) 17:30, March 23, 2014 (EDT)
- Unless you take the .jpg and expand it. It lessens the quality largely. Keep the original images at the original quality. They are big enough to be shrunken down to 250px. I download these promos direct from FoxFlash and there is no need for them to be replaced. The Solar Dragon 17:32, March 23, 2014 (EDT)
- In fact, all images, please do not just expand them and reupload them. You have the knowledge that .png are higher quality than .jpg, so you should really have the knowledge that making an image bigger by simply resizing it lessens the quality as it pixelates. If you upload new versions of images, please make sure they are higher quality. The Solar Dragon 17:51, March 23, 2014 (EDT)

No image and reference page
Hello, the "No image" image should only be used when an image is required, otherwise it should be left blank. This is because an image for a reference in dialogue only does not explain the reference at all and is therefore useless and is a waste. Images should only be used if there is a visual reference to The Simpsons. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 19:39, March 27, 2014 (EDT)
Bart Simpson
Hi, there wasn't a problem with the MultiNavbox, it was due to the huge amount of code on the page and transcluded to the page via templates that there was a problem. I've moved Bart's Tapped Out stuff to a subpage and linked it under the header and that's sorted out the issue. If you notice the problem on any other pages, please bring them to my attention or just copy what I've done on Homer Simpson/Tapped Out and Bart Simpson/Tapped Out if needed. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 19:01, April 1, 2014 (EDT)
References and reference pages
Hello, when adding references, please make sure that they are obvious references to the show and not just coincidences. Such as writing lines on a chalkboard. That's a common school punishment and is not a reference to the show. Sound effects used can sometimes be shared by shows so are not references. References need to be obvious to actually be references.
As for starting new reference pages, such as Phineas and Ferb, please start them in your userspace, under titles like User:Barthony70099/Page title and then move them to the mainspace afterwards. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 16:05, April 14, 2014 (EDT)
Featured content
Hello. Month after month I've been struggling to update the main page with new featured content as there's been a lack of decent content to add. Therefore, I'm asking everyone to nominate any decent articles, episodes, images and quotes that fit the criteria. Most importantly is the featured article and episode. However, we're also lacking comprehensive article nominations too. The worst thing is that there is usually very little voting on these, with there only being one or two votes maximum. I'm sorry to send out a mass message like this but the sitenotice seems to go unnoticed. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 08:17, May 1, 2014 (EDT)
Spam
When adding the spam template to pages, don't forget to also delete the page content. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 00:12, May 2, 2014 (EDT)
Removing backgrounds
Hello, please do not remove backgrounds of images unless you are sure you can do it perfectly. If another user wants to remove the background of an image, they can do so with the image already on the page. You don't need to do an attempt and then wait for them to do so. The chances are, they'd have to start from scratch with the original any way as it's easier than fixing someone else's botched attempt. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 16:38, May 2, 2014 (EDT)

- I told you to stop reuploading these images. You can carry on editing in a week but please obey our policies and when an admin tells you to stop doing something, stop doing it. The Solar Dragon 04:36, May 3, 2014 (EDT)
Preview button
Please use the preview button rather than editing a page multiple times, like you did my talk page. It's rather annoying to get so many emails through about messages left on my talk page. Preview your post, make sure it is fine, then submit. The Solar Dragon 17:17, May 11, 2014 (EDT)
Templates
Please do not create anew new templates/make major changes to any templates without first discussing it. We do not want users making random changes to templates as it can get confusing. Also, just because you think a template is needed doesn't mean it is. If you want to make a new template, ask me first. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 04:31, May 12, 2014 (EDT)
Force Preview
Hello. I have added you to the user right "Force Preview". This is due to your lack of previewing edits you are saving and making multiple changes to do so. This is mainly because I'm fed up of getting so many emails about my talk page being changed, to find one message. It also fills up recent changes with a lot of minor edits and is bad for the page's history. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 04:49, May 20, 2014 (EDT)
- Okay, I gave you force preview because you seem incapable of checking your edits before saving them. However, you still seem to make multiple edits to a page (User talk:Loco87 for example). This is your final warning. Make any more mistakes with this, any more than 2 edits to a page within an hour, and I will block you. Since you seem to make so many mistakes on the wiki, it will be a lengthy block this time. Most likely a month or 3, depending on how I feel when I go to do so. Check your edits before you save. Preview them and look at the page to see if you have made a mistake. DO NOT make multiple edits to a page when you can so easily do it in one. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 06:43, May 27, 2014 (EDT)
Images with play buttons
If you don't like images with play buttons, don't upload them! Instead of pausing when you get to the scene, just print screen it! It might take you a couple of attempts but there won't be play buttons! Simple! If you continue to upload images with play buttons, I won't block you, but I may look into taking away your uploading privileges. The Solar Dragon 06:38, May 27, 2014 (EDT)
- OK OK Solar Dragon don't block me! I don't return to do! But really i miss the trusted rights. I don't like move pages with redirections. Without redirections was much better. I promise to be good on Wikisimpsons so, please, i want to have back the trusted rights. I hate the redirections when moving articles and images. OK. No more images with play buttons. No more multiple editions. --Barthony70099 Eat my shorts! Ay Caramba! 14:15, May 27, 2014 (EDT)
- You will only get trusted rights back once you prove that you can be trusted and stop making so many mistakes. If you just take in what I'm telling you and stop making the same mistakes again and again, you will become a better editor. Sure, everyone notices some things they forgot to change on an article when saving it once in a while, but no where near as often as you do seem to do so. Read over articles when you preview them, make sure you see no other issues you need to change. When uploading low quality images, just add the category and don't bother asking Loco to upload a new version. Someone will get round to it eventually as it's in the category. If an admin, or even a rollback, asks you to stop doing something, just stop it. And if you think they were wrong about it, bring it up on the talk page. If you stop making so many mistakes, I'll start to trust you as a user again. Try not to do anything to make me block you. Next month is the songs competition and I'm sure you'd like a chance at winning free stuff. You can't do that if you're blocked. The Solar Dragon 14:37, May 27, 2014 (EDT)

- Five edits! I told you to preview, check over your edits, and save in one, or two maximum. You have been blocked for a month. When you come back, learn to preview please. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 05:08, June 4, 2014 (EDT)
Hyman Krustofsky
Source for him dying? No? Don't add it to the article. Wait until it airs. The Solar Dragon 14:57, September 26, 2014 (EDT)
Hugo Simpson
Hi, I would like to question where you retrieved the "Tapped Out version" of the Hugo Simpson image here. As I recall, Hugo has not yet been implemented into Tapped Out. ~ Phinbart (talk • contribs) 11:00, September 30, 2014 (EDT)
Template edits
Do not make edits to high use templates, such as tabs, without 1) bringing it up on the talk page first 2) making sure the edit works and looks right, do this in your userspace 3) having people agree the change should be put in place. Minor edits, such as spelling mistakes, don't follow this. Huge edits, like adding a new tab, should do so. Also, you didn't even add it to every tab page, and it looked wrong, and you never made an images tab. I have undone your edits. If you believe there should be an images tab, and it should be added to the tabs, bring it up on the talk page of Template:Tab. The Solar Dragon 10:24, October 16, 2014 (EDT)
- Also, if you wanted to add a link to the
Category:Images - {{{Episode Name}}}
categories, you just have to put{{Images}}
at the end of the episode article (The Episodes from the first seasons already have it. Most of the more-recent ones don't have it yet). / Loco87 ( / Contribs) 10:37, October 16, 2014 (EDT)- I'm actually now considering adding a tab for images, except it would take a lot more work, a lot more calculations, and a lot of changes to the template code. It'd definitely need to be done in someone's userspace first, and extensively tested to make sure there's no problems, before it is rolled out sitewide. The Solar Dragon 10:39, October 16, 2014 (EDT)
Promo images
Promo images are taken from official sources in .jpg format. They can't be low quality as we have the best quality promo images we can get hold of. 1) leave them in .jpg format, saving it again and converting to .png format makes the picture worse quality and 2) DO NOT add the low quality images category to promo images. Thank you, The Solar Dragon 10:32, October 16, 2014 (EDT)
- In fact, I told you this before, and you did it again anyway. ONE more mistake, and you're blocked again. This time, it'll be for at least a year. The Solar Dragon 10:33, October 16, 2014 (EDT)
Really?
Use some common sense! Johnson is a common last name. How the hell is it a reference to a character in a video game, who also happens to share the common last name! Any more stupid additions like this to articles, and I will block you. The Solar Dragon 15:32, November 13, 2014 (EST)
