R.E.M. were an American alternative rock band. They voiced themselves and sung "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" in the season 13 episode "Homer the Moe" and their song "Everybody Hurts" was played in the season 17 episode "The Last of the Red Hat Mamas" and "Superman" was played in the season 17 episode "Million-Dollar Abie". The band split up on September 21, 2011.
