Yes, long title, I know but I couldn't think of anything shorter.

Many of you think of me as the head editor of Wikisimpsons and ask me about things first. While I often don't want people to bother me with these things, because well, I am not the official head of Wikisimpsons, it seems that people would like to have an authority figure to look to for reassurance sometimes.

While I often do not want this for small decisions, this is the community's wiki, not mine, major decisions can often need someone to green light it, check over it and make sure it is fine and works. This is where I come into play. Many of you already think of me as the head of Wikisimpsons. I don't mind that. I think of myself as the head too. I've put a lot of work into the wiki, more than most people have. I worked my way up to the position I am in now and I enjoy every minute of it (although I can be lazy sometimes, just look at the competition entries for instance :P).

So, to make my position official (this will also have a new position I think, a new user right I think), I'm asking for a community vote. Should I be the leader of the wiki? Or, should someone else be selected instead? Or should we not have a leader?

Advantages of having a leader would be that if the community was torn on decisions (like the skin design competition), I would make the decision for the wiki. However, I will also go against my own beliefs if the community thinks otherwise. I won't use the position to force things on people etc. There will still very much be community decisions.

Anyway, please vote and thank you for taking the time to read through this. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 17:42, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

Solar Dragon for Leader (10)[edit]

  1. Though I'd be inclined to go against the idea of a head of a wiki, Solar is already doing the role and it would be hard to adapt around there being no such role.--Cook879 17:57, 11 August 2011 (EDT)
  2. I don't need to explain why. He is our Rock. --Will k (Talk ~ Contribs) 06:09, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
  3. Ever since I've joined, I've classed Solar as the Wikisimpsons leader. So, I think Solar should become the leader due to the amount of work he's done on the wiki. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 16:53, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
  4. He's naturally became the leader anyway by just organising everything etc. --Smiley12 18:17, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
  5. From what I've seen, he certainly seems fit for the job. --Nick97 18:53, 14 August 2011 (EDT)
  6. Seems to me he's already doing the job and is open to accepting advice, criticism, etc. Support. -- Mythigator 22:49, 14 August 2011 (EDT)
  7. You will be a great leader. FatHomerTalk 16:30, 20 August 2011 (EDT)
  8. All of the above. Doh5678 (talk) 16:39, 20 August 2011 (EDT)
  9. It will probably be good. /AleWi 06:53, 22 August 2011 (EDT)
  10. I know I am new here, but I like the idea of one lead user. DaRanger (Talk to Me ~ What I've Done) 14:37, 24 August 2011 (EDT)

Someone else for leader (0)[edit]

State who you want to be leader with your vote.

No leader, all decisions by community (2)[edit]

  1. Do wikis really need rulers? The content is by the whole community, so surely it makes sense to keep it a fair and level playing field. Cjcsdonut.png -- cjc 20:02, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
  2. All the admins and bureaucrats should share the responibility equally. Knife! - Fan of Queen 17:17, 14 August 2011 (EDT)

Discussion[edit]

  • Okay, look at Bulbapedia. They have a hierarchy of editors including junior admins and an chief editor (basically the position I'm going for here). Bulbapedia has been very successful with this hierarchy. I'll respect the community's decision on this either way but there's an example. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 16:51, 12 August 2011 (EDT)
  • Hom many votes does it need to make you to offical head/how many against?, because you often decide that. What more do you do as leader, isn't steward enough? People may see you as head of this wiki because you act like one and say you are a self declared head of wikisimpsons on your userpage, i see the admins/bureaucrats as leaders of this wiki. Well... you say you created this wiki so why not? I still think it is best without a leader for now anyway. FatHomerTalk 09:44, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
I don't actually have Steward rights. I am just a bureaucrat right now. The reason I am going for this is because people already think of me as leader and I want to make the title official. The amount of votes, I want all major contributors to vote. Once I'm happy that most major contributors have voted, I'll close it. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 16:37, 13 August 2011 (EDT)
  • Mythigator brings up a good point. If I do anything that can be considered power abuse, I won't just stand down from this position, I will relinquish my admin and bureaucrat rights too. If I do anything serious, tell me. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 16:09, 15 August 2011 (EDT)
  • Just to comment on this, there are a few unused administrative powers that we could entrust to the 'Head of Wikisimpsons' along with a new rank. The ability to hide content (revisions, files, usernames, logs, etc...) from public view comes to mind, as it is often restricted to only the highest ranking staff members on wikis. In my opinion, it is important to have at least one staff member that can do this in the event of copyright infringement, inappropriate material, or illicit activity. --Jake 12:36, 18 August 2011 (EDT)

In regard to everyone saying "no", I think it's just more of a title, staff if you will. --Will k (Talk ~ Contributions) 06:11, 24 August 2011 (EDT)

Thanks for the support everyone. I have now closed the discussion. I will not let you down. The Solar Dragon 03:29, 25 August 2011 (EDT)
