"Do the Bartman" (7F75) is a single from The Simpsons Sing the Blues album, which features Bart Simpson singing "Do the Bartman". (Not to be confused with the superhero of the same name.) The song was written by Bryan Loren. It was originally rumored that pop icon Michael Jackson, who later guest-starred on the episode "Stark Raving Dad" as Leon Kompowski, would contribute a track to the album, but the producers initially denied it. It was later revealed by creator Matt Groening that Jackson did indeed co-write the song. The music video originally aired December 6, 1990.

Lyrics

Promotional art.
Homer:
Bart? Bart! Bart! (something falls over) BAAAAARRT!!
Bart:
Ididntdoitnobodysawmedoityoucantproveanything!
Yo! Hey, what's happenin', dude?
I'm a guy with a rep for bein' rude.
Terrorizin' people wherever I go.
It's not intentional, just keepin' the flow.
Fixin' test scores to get the best scores,
Droppin' banana peels all over the floor.
I'm the kid that made delinquency an art.
Last name: Simpson! First name: Bart!
I'm here today to introduce the next phase,
The next step in the big Bart craze.
I gotta dance real easy to do.
I learned it with the rhythm and so can you.
So move your body, if you got the notion,
Front to back in a rock-like motion
Now that you got it, if you think that you can,
Do it to the music. That's the Bartman!
Back-up singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Woah!)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Check it out, man!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Bartman!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman! (Bart: Uh-huh!)
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman!
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Wooooah, mama!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Woah!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman!
Bart:
It wasn't long ago, just a couple of weeks,
I got in trouble. Yeah, pretty deep.
Homer was yelling, (Homer: BART!) Mom was, too,
Because I put moth balls in the beef stew.
Punishment time, in the air lurks gloom.
Sittin' by myself, confined to my room,
When all else fails, nothin' else left to do.
I turn on the music so I can feel the groove.
Back-up singers:
Move your body, if you get the notion, (Bart: Woah, I'm feelin' the groove now, baby!)
Front to back in a rock-like motion (Bart: Bring it back! Woooooah!)
Move your hips from side to side now (Bart: Do the Bartman!)
Don't you slip, let your feet glide now. (Bart: Woah, Lisa! Ha!)
If you gotta groove, you gotta use it. (Bart: Ha-ha-ha!)
Rock rhythm in time with the music. (Bart: Hahaha, check it out, man!)
You just might start a chain reaction.
Bart:
If you can do the Bartman, you're bad like Michael Jackson.
Back-up singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Oh yeah!)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Shake your body!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Huh!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman! (Bart: Yeah, do the Bartman!)
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Everybody, yeah, do the Bartman!)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Check it out!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Woooooooah, mama!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman! (Bart: I'm bad! I'm bad!)
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
Everybody, back and forth and side to side.
Back-up singers:
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
Kick your feet up off the floor and let 'em glide!
Back-up singers:
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
She can do it, he can do it, so can I!
Back-up singers:
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
Now here's a dance beat that you can't deny!
(guitar solo)
Homer:
Turn it down! Will you shut that infernal racket!
Everybody:
DO THE BARTMAN!
(Lisa plays the saxophone)
Bart:
Oh, my ears! Lisa, put the saxophone away!
U can't touch this!
(tips a pile of things over) Ididntdoitnobodysawmedoityoucantproveanything!
Now I'm in the house, feelin' good to be home
'Til Lisa starts blowin' that damn saxophone.
And if it was mine, you know they'd take it away,
But still I'm feelin' good, so that's okay.
I'm up in my room, just a-singin' a song,
Listen to the kick-drum kickin' along.
Yeah, Lisa likes jazz, she's her number one fan,
But I know I'm bad, 'cause I do the Bartman!
Back-up singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Hey everybody...)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: ...may I remind you?)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Ooh! Ah! Yeah! Yeah!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman! (Bart: Bart! Man! Huh!)
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
Everybody, back and forth and side to side.
Back-up singers:
Do the Bartman!
Bart:
Do the Bartman!
She can do it, he can do it, so can I.
Back-up singers:
Move your body, if you get the notion,
Front to back in a rock-like motion (Bart: Move it!)
Move your hips from side to side now (Bart: Fling it!)
Don't you slip, let your feet glide now.
(Bart scats over the following)
If you gotta groove, you gotta use it.
Rock rhythm in time with the music.
You just might start a chain reaction.
Bart:
I'm the Bartman!
Back-up singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Fling it, baby! Woo!)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Oh yeah!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: I'm bad! Real bad!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman!
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman! (Bart: Woooooooah, I'm bad!)
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man! (Bart: Do the Bartman!)
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can. (Bart: Ha-ha!)
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman!
Do the Bartman!
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman!
Move your body, if you get the notion,
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man!
Front to back in a rock-like motion
Do the Bartman!
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can.
Move your hips from side to side now
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman!
Don't you slip, let your feet glide now.
Do the Bartman!
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman!
If you gotta groove, you gotta use it.
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man!
Rock rhythm in time with the music.
Do the Bartman!
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can can.
You just might start a chain reaction.
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman!
(Bart says the following over the combination of the chorus, the bridge and others)
Bart:
Oh, yeah! You call that dancin'?
Ha! Watch this rhythm!
Ha-ha, yeah!
Ha-ha, fling it!
Eat your heart out, Michael!
Whoo!
Ha-ha!
Homer:
YOU'RE GROUNDED!
Bart:
Oh, wow, man!
